Admissions

Schools' admissions policies are not decided at a national level. They are set at a local level so that they can take into account the specific needs of their communities.
Treales C.E Primary School is a voluntary aided school. In Voluntary Aided schools the Governing body is the admissions authority. As such, it is the governing body that draws up the admissions policy in consultation with Blackburn Diocese, the Lancashire Local Authority and all other admissions authorities in the area.
Admissions policies must conform to the Government's Admissions Code and have regard to the school's Trust deed.
If you have any queries about a school's specific admissions policy please begin by contacting your Blackburn Diocese Education Office.

If you live in Lancashire you must follow Lancashire County Council’s application process. You should complete this online here.

You need to apply for a place in Treales CE Primary School, even if your child’s brother or sister is already at school.

Children can start reception year at primary school from the September after their fourth birthday. However, by law children don’t have to start school until the beginning of the term after their fifth birthday.

These are the dates that children would usually start school and when to apply for a school place:

Child born between Starts primary school Apply between

1 Sep 2020 – 31 Aug 2021 Sep 2025 Sep 2024 – Jan 2025

1 Sep 2021 - 31 August 2022 Sep 2026 Sep 2025 - Jan 2026

Applications for children starting primary school in 2025 are open between 1st September 2024 and 15th January 2025. All applications received up to the closing date will be given equal priority, but if the deadline is missed, a late application may reduce the chance of being allocated your preferred school.

As a Church of England Primary School we ask that you complete a Supplementary Information Form in addition to applying online through Lancashire County Council. The information you submit on a Supplementary Information Form is used by the Governing Board to rank your child’s application against the criteria in our admission policy. The Supplementary Information Form can be found in the relevant admissions policy below.

The relevant Admission arrangement policies can be found below.

If you are applying for a place for your child not in a reception cohort, please see our In Year Admissions page.
